There's a big difference between 中文学会 ke bah bah and 黄城 ke bah bah...

And it feels very different to be sitting down at the audience during 会庆 as compared to organizing it. Well, as yihan said, i rather help out in something than juz sit there and do nothing at all but watch.

I've finally stepped down as 灯长, and hand over to my trusted disciples danny and siheng. It was great to have them under me and i hope they will bring 灯光 to greater heights in the future, and define themselves what 灯光 will be like from now on. It definitely feels different when junyi was handing over to me last year, and right now, a year later, i'm in his shoes. Being through a lot this year as 灯长 i guess...Thanks to my juniors for giving me a deathnote pillow! Will surely bring it with me in my sleep!

Didn't see any 灯长 seniors this year, i guess all of them didn't book out in time, hahaz! Think they all have a changed a lot since entering army...

Then it was quite niao when suayu gave xinyu a 'hottie' sign, HAHAHAHA! Maybe she has the potential...

A holiday which is not a holiday has finally arrived...

A year older, a year wiser? Or even a year more mature perhaps? But i seriously don't feel like growing up...2 years of teenage years left for me to enjoy...

Maybe i'll make better decisions from now on? Or rather am i able to think more sensibly? Or maybe people will look at me differently? oes 17 or 18 really make such a difference anyway?

What will life as an 18-yr-old be from now on? I really dunno, but as yunzhou mentioned, there are certainly more to expect in the next 365 days! Anything can happen in this world!

And Happy Birthday to Lee Heng as well (our capable 道长 who doesn't take photos), the first person i knew who has the same birthday as me, 真是同年同月同日生阿! As we looked at each other and laugh this morning without words, this day has finally come!

A great thanks to everyone who have wished me happy birthday in one way or another, glad that all of your remembered it:)

Birthday wishes? Hmm, let me think, i know i can't get everything i want, but i really hope to survive my j2 year, and well, survive the A levels as well! Arghhh, don't want to mention about studies...but i guess i would really want my life and everything to go well in the year ahead (yea consider that my life has always been in a permanent mess ever since i entered jc, but then isn't a messy life exciting as well?), and that life as an 18-yr-old would be more exciting than ever!

Have I changed? Dun think so, nothing's changed! Guess i'm still the same old guy frm chs. Well, it really takes something to change me, but i think i won't change much in the near future too...This is the same old vincent since u knew him, and he will remain juz like that:P

Well, the end of term 2 is finally approaching, i really need a break, and to chiong for the future! Don't you love the "holidays"? I know its not going to be a holiday for me, but I sure hope i'm not called back to school so often...At least i won't have to wake up at 630am every morning!

And finally there's phantom of the opera, which i'm completely amazed by it. I guess no word could be suitable to describe it, not even augy's vocab could do justice to me. Its one of the best performances i've ever seen. 70 bucks is pretty justified, and somemore it could only buy a seat at circle 3 2nd last row. 6 bucks for a pair of binoculars, anyone? And 25 bucks for a program! I'm willing to pay more to get a better seat! It was a dream from the start till the end, and i was even stunned through the interval, when i just stared at the stage and said nothing...It really worth it, would recommend everyone to watch it!

kop this old joke from ruikang's blog (he's finally in j1 le!) :

The more you learn, the more you know,
The more you know, the more you forget.
The more you forget, the less you know.
So.. why learn?

Study = Not Fail---A
Not Study = Fail---B
A+B: Study + Not Study = Not Fail + Fail
Study(1 + Not) = Fail (1 + Not)
Divide both sides by (1 + Not)
Therefore: Study = Fail
So, why study??

After sitting through a disastrous 绿园 experience last week, its time for round 2! Which was none other than vj's 海城之夜. Wasn't really looking forward to this, maybe due to the memories of 绿园 still on my mind...Saw j-wei outside the vj gate and he gave me those damn niao look when i told him about 海城.

Let's go straight to the performance. I would rate this show higher than the grassland 绿园 and 白云冈, at least it looks more visually impactful. There was a proper set design and somehow i sense they had a higher budget than the other 2 productions. The stage looks quite funny, no cyc in sight, and they like to spam visuals, sometimes not really suitable...Lights design was okay, considering the limitations of their audi, their focusing positions wasn't as bad as 绿园 though.

But this was a predominantly prc production. The program booklet was cool and not bad to begin with, but i couldn't spot a non-prc name as i went through the list. And there was clearly and over-spamming of guys and lack of gals in their production. Its not whether i'm desperate or not, but i dunno why they had to use guys to 反串 as gals if they had enough gals in the first place? Or is it for some special effects i dunno? I thought only guys schools like us had to do that cos of lack of gals, and we were always keen to avoid it if possible...And even their 反串 also a bit cannot make it, a distinct lack of gayness in them...I've seen no one till date who could 反串 as well and as natural as jiasheng. I mean, if he really keeps his hair long enough and dress up a little, he would look like a chio bu to me lah, serious!

From out of nowhere i can see the 司仪 wearing an all-too familiar cathigh green shorts...erps...dunno wad to say, got get license fee from cathigh? But after taking a closer look, the shirt was dunman's shirt, as seen by xinyu, cos i can't spot the 7 metal buttons and 2 communist pockets. Then, they also wore rj's green skirts with dunman's shirt as well...wad is this for?

Being a prc production means that its very difficult for us to catch what the actors were voicing due to their overly-exaggerated language and accent. A lot of times, when the actors said something, people around us started laughing out loud while we were looking blur...huh what happened arh? Are they saying some prc jokes that only prcs could understand? But the fact is that this audi was make up of at least 80% prcs!! Quite scary, especially during the interval when i went to the toilet and back (Saw someone flushing the program booklet down the toilet bowl, lol!) Along the way, i was overwhelmed by the amount of prcs with their accent and appearance, its was really quite intimidating, looks like we were the minority here...

Couldn't really understand the plot well, due to the way they talk as i've mentioned. And they actually put up a 古装剧 on the 3rd show. But the highlight was when some we saw the fireplace moving to stage right. Some 道具组 guy hiding behind it was trying to move it away but when it reached stage right, the opening was too small to accomodate him and the prop, so he has no choice but to stand up, exposing himself to all the audience, then try to exit desperately, damn funny lah. And the 4 walls behind were always moving around throughout the 剧, i know what they are trying to protray, but looks quite hideous...The 4th and last show was VERY VERY long and draggy, as usual xinyu was sleeping through, and i was literally praying that it would end asap...

谢幕 was okay lah, they dun have the usual groups of people running out onto stage, but instead everyone sat on the stage when the curtains opened...Spotted some of my past cldds frens, he bo, ya dong and company on the 1st row. Its been quite long since i last saw them, and shocked that wang yue was actually the vp and assistant production manager!! oh my, really can't believe it...Somehow proves that even a prc from our cldds has the potential to get such a position, or rather, do they have better people to begin with?

Piles and piles of homework coming up...haiz...5 months more to A levels, time is really running out, i'm already living on borrowed time now...Can i make it? Are there miracles in this world?

Tank concert last thur was not bad to begin with, especially when his unplugged was so zai!! Rarely been to 校园演唱会 and this was a really gd chance for me, hahaz! Yida and his rj frens came to support too. Saw some non-hc people disguising themselves with hc uniform, lolz! Tank songs are generally not bad, but still feel that his face is quite gek, he's not famed for his looks anyway...too bad selina is not here, if not can sing 独唱情歌!

Went down with the other huangcheng people to 绿园之夜, the annual performance by tj. Took some time to travel there, especially when it was during peak hours...nearly slip and fell inside the train, but thanks to wen en and sylvia for holding me juz in time...It was a rare chance that so many huangcheng people actually come together to watch a performance, i guess we were at least 40-strong ba...The audi was only 2/3 full, and could have imagined how empty it'll be if we were not there. Sorry lah, no offence here, but it was really a waste of time and money for me...i rather pay 8 bucks to watch 你怕黑吗的 full run or even 道具换场.

Anyway, the performance was...erm...dunno how to describe, but let's jus say its better than 白云冈 ba, oops...I seriously dun see the point of flickering the lights for the entire play, distracting and unnecessary, and some of the focusing positions were quite off (okay lah, i was not so accurate also...), could spot the numerous wrong cues gone, and face lights was not enough at times (like my face lights a lot like that...) Besides lightings, the plot was another major disappointment, following the play was a great problem, and sometimes don't even knew that the play had ended. Okay lah, can see that they are facing shortage of manpower also, only 4 people doing lightings and sound, LOL! And even got 导演演戏...At least the backdrop for the 3rd play looks good.

The last time i went 绿园 was 2 years ago i think, it was not bad last time, dunno why standards have dropped to such a level, maybe times have changed...And the 谢幕 was...dunno what kind of debriefing will yunzhou give...
